Bali Light Conditions

Equatorial sun requires genuine blackout for bedrooms and solar control for west-facing living areas. We specify correctly.

🌊

Marine-Grade Coastal Hardware

Salt air corrodes standard aluminium. We specify marine-grade for Jimbaran, Uluwatu and beachside installations.

Roller Blinds Made for Bali's Climate

We specify, supply and install every blind for the conditions it actually has to survive — equatorial sun, year-round humidity and coastal salt air.

We are a roller blinds specialist working exclusively across south and central Bali. Our team installs window treatments in villas, rental properties, restaurants, offices and clinics from Canggu and Berawa down to Uluwatu and Nusa Dua. Every quote starts with a free on-site measurement visit: we bring fabric sample books so you can choose colours and openness factors in your own rooms, under the natural light you actually live with, rather than guessing from a screen.

Roller blinds suit Bali far better than curtains. They sit cleanly against the modern concrete reveals and floor-to-ceiling glass that define Balinese villa architecture, they collect far less dust and mould than heavy curtain fabric in a humid climate, and they take up almost no space when raised. A roller blind on a tidy cassette headrail simply disappears when you don't need it — which is most of the day in a bright tropical house. For new builds we can recess the headrail into a ceiling pocket so the blind is completely invisible when open.

The hard part in Bali is not the blind — it is matching the right fabric and hardware to each window. Get it wrong and you live with bedrooms that glow at 6am, west-facing living rooms that are unusable from 2pm, or coastal hardware that rusts solid inside eighteen months. Get it right and the blinds quietly do their job for years. That is the difference our specification experience makes, and it is why we measure every window in person before recommending anything.

Which Type of Roller Blind Do You Need?

Four blind types cover almost every Bali window. Here is how we choose between them room by room.

Blackout Blinds — Bedrooms

PVC- or foam-backed fabric that blocks 100% of light across the panel. Fitted with side channels, it eliminates the edge gaps that let Bali's 6am sunrise wake guests. The default choice for every bedroom, especially in rental villas where "bright too early" is the most common negative review. Blackout blinds →

Solar / Screen Fabric — West Living Areas

An open-weave fabric (typically 3–10% openness) that cuts heat and glare from direct sun while keeping the outward view. Ideal for west-facing rooms in Jimbaran, Seminyak and Uluwatu, where afternoon ocean-side sun otherwise drives up the air-conditioning bill.

Day-Night Blinds — Flexible Spaces

Alternating sheer and opaque bands on a single roller let you dial anything from full view to near-blackout. Best for living rooms, dining areas and home offices that change use through the day. Day-night blinds →

Outdoor Blinds — Terraces & Bale

PVC strip curtains and woven outdoor fabric protect terraces, pergolas and bale from rain, wind and afternoon sun. Wind-rated guide systems and marine-grade hardware keep them working in coastal sea breezes. Outdoor blinds →

Fabrics & Hardware for a Humid, Salt-Air Island

Standard mainland-spec blinds fail early in Bali. Here is what we change.

UV-stable fabrics. Bali sits eight degrees south of the equator, so its midday sun is significantly more intense than the test conditions most blind fabrics are rated against. We use UV-stabilised polyester and PVC-backed blackout fabrics that resist fading and the brittle, crumbling backing failure that cheaper unstabilised fabric shows after a year or two of direct tropical light.

Mould-resistant choices. Year-round humidity means heavy curtain fabric becomes a mould trap. Smooth roller fabrics wipe clean, and for damp-prone bathrooms and poolside rooms we favour PVC-faced fabrics that don't hold moisture. This is a genuine health and maintenance advantage of roller blinds over curtains in Bali.

Marine-grade hardware near the coast. Standard aluminium brackets, chains and zinc components corrode visibly within twelve to eighteen months close to the beach. For Jimbaran, Uluwatu, Nusa Dua and beachside Seminyak and Canggu we specify stainless steel and anodised aluminium hardware. The cost difference is modest; the service-life difference is three to four years versus one to two. For motorised outdoor installations we match the motor IP rating (IP55 for covered terraces, IP67 for exposed positions) and the motor torque to the blind's weight and width so it lifts reliably for years.

Roller Blinds Bali — Common Questions

Quick answers to what villa owners ask us most. WhatsApp us anything not covered here.

Is the measurement visit really free?

Yes. We measure on-site at no charge and with no obligation, and bring fabric samples so you can choose in your own light. You only commit once you accept the written quote.

How much do roller blinds cost in Bali?

Manual blinds start around IDR 350,000 per window and motorised systems from around IDR 900,000. Full guide ranges are on our pricing page; exact pricing follows the free measurement.

What's the lead time?

Standard fabrics held in local stock: 5–7 working days from measurement to installation. Special-order colours or custom fabrics: 10–14 working days.

Do you do blackout for bedrooms?

Yes — blackout fabric with side channels is our standard bedroom recommendation for Bali. See our blackout blinds page for the full system options.

Can blinds be motorised later?

It's cleaner to motorise at installation, but many tube systems can be upgraded later. RF remote is the most reliable control for Bali; add a WiFi bridge for app control. See motorised blinds.
